Lombard, known as “The Lilac Village”, honoring Colonel Plum’s lilacs at his bequeathed park, is a long-standing community that is friendly for both residents and businesses.  Lombard is rich in history, tradition, and innovation.  This suburb was part of the underground railroad at the Sheldon Peck Homestead, was previously known as “Babcock’s Grove”, and was the residence of Ellen Martin, the first Illinois female voter.
